The Best Cooking Oil for Health

Coconut oil defies all conventional thinking: it’s high in saturated fat, it helps you burn fat, maintain excellent cardiovascular health, and even improve athletic performance. The question isn’t whether you cook with coconut oil or not, the question is, why aren’t you doing it yet?

Many people are reluctant to switch to eating a healthier diet because they think it will be dry and bland and devoid of flavour. Nothing could be further from the truth. You just have to know about the healthy alternatives. I have fried eggs for breakfast quite often, and one reason it’s a healthy meal is because I fry them in coconut oil.

It Burns Fat

Due to its composition, the fat in coconut oil is not stored as fat but rather used by the body as energy. What’s more, it encourages the body to use stored fat as energy as well as helping you burn fat!!!

An added bonus to eating coconut oil is it makes you feel full longer but instead of making you feel lethargic and bloated like many heavy meals, it gets you energized.

Prevents Disease

Another key fact about coconut oil is that it can be cooked at high temperatures without corrupting its health benefits. Not so for olive oil. When you cook olive oil at high temperatures it actually turns into trans fat which contributes to disease and weight gain. How many times have you put olive oil in a pan and it smokes up after it gets hot? That’s the composition changing.

Trans fat essentially builds up the bad form of cholesterol that contributes to cardiovascular disease, while at the same time, decreasing the good form of cholesterol (yes there is such a thing).

Polynesian cultures have one of the lowest rates of cardiovascular disease and this is directly attributed to a diet high in coconut oil.

Rule to live by:

“Keep it healthy. Keep it tasty.”

Olive oil is healthy if you don’t cook with it. For example, it’s great for salad. Cook with coconut oil, salads with olive oil.

When it comes to eating healthy, it’s all a matter of paying attention. One ingredient that’s unhealthy can turn a potentially great meal into a fatty one. You don’t have to eat very differently than you do today. Just watch what ingredients you use to make eating clean easy peasy.
